Grampound with Creed's 'Good' SIAMS - full press release
SIAMS inspection of Grampound with Creed C of E School finds pupils “happy, engaged and focused”
Grampound with Creed C of E School has been rated ‘Good’ across all areas in its latest SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) report, with inspectors noting that the school is “a happy, nurturing place where children’s confidence is built up and they flourish.”
The inspection, which took place on 16th January, is the first statutory inspection the academy has received since joining The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust, and the report is a testament to the hard work put in by both staff and the Trust to drive rapid improvement.
Inspectors found that since the beginning of the term, leaders have established a strong staff team and rebuilt pupils’ confidence by developing and implementing an inspiring new Christian vision. They noted that this has been “a collaborative process,” involving “the whole school community”. As a result, improvements have taken place at pace, “in a rigorous, yet supportive and compassionate manner.” Other key highlights from the report include:
- Behaviour is good, both in and outside of lessons. Pupils’ confidence has been built by a positive policy based on forgiveness and reconciliation. As a result, “pupils are engaged and focussed” on their learning.
- The curriculum has been refreshed, meaning that pupils “respond confidently” to opportunities for independent learning, discussion and showcasing their work.
- Pupils develop well and flourish. Pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and vulnerable pupils are supported with care. For some of these pupils, there has been a “transformative effect” on their willingness to engage with their learning.
- The quality of learning at the school has rapidly improved so that more pupils can learn effectively.
- Inspired by the Christian vision of the school, pupils are “thoughtful and reflective”. Careful planning ensures that opportunities for personal reflection are varied and enjoyed by pupils, contributing to their spiritual development.
In addition, the report referenced the impact of the “very good support from the Trust and the diocese”, which enables school leaders to implement changes in a supportive and nurturing manner, ensuring pupils and staff feel safe, supported and challenged.
Meanwhile, both the Trust and the diocese have offered mentoring and training to leaders and teachers, developing their knowledge and skills. This has made sure that staff have good support for their wellbeing and mental health.
Everyone at the academy is looking forward to working together to build on the foundations in place, continuing to strengthen the provision on offer and ensure every pupil can thrive.
Rebecca Jane, Acting Head at Grampound with Creed C of E School said:
“This report reflects the tremendous efforts of everyone across our school community, and we are really pleased with the outcome. We are also particularly proud that the report recognises the Christian vision that underpins our work and helps to facilitate a nurturing and compassionate culture.
“We are very grateful to all of our staff, governors, pupils, families, and the wider community, as well as to The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust and the diocese, who have all been instrumental in supporting the sustained improvement of our academy.”
Samantha Jones, CEO of The Rainbow Trust said:
“This result is well-deserved by everyone at Grampound with Creed C of E School, who have all done an exceptional job over the past few months in making huge strides forward. We are confident that there will continue to be a strong upward trajectory in the months and years ahead, and The Rainbow Trust looks forward to supporting the school on its path.”
