Rainbow Colour Run raises £12,000
Thu 29 Jun 2023Over 1800 primary pupils from across The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust have taken part in a Colour Run, which has seen them raise over £12,000 so far.
Armed with protective goggles and kitted out in white T-shirts, pupils ran around school fields and playgrounds while staff and other children threw coloured powder at them; by the end of the run the rainbow had come alive in more ways than one.
Children from all classes joined in, from age two to age eleven. They all showed tremendous enthusiasm for the event, embracing the colour, mess and general spirit of the day!
Half of the money raised will be going to Penhaligon's Friends, a Cornish charity supporting bereaved children, young people, parents and carers throughout the county. The charity is close to the hearts of many in The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust community and was selected with overwhelming support from everyone.
The other half of funds raised will be used by the schools to invest in resources and experiences for their pupils.
It was the first Trust-wide event with every school participating, which was a fantastic opportunity for pupils, staff and family members to get to have fun and further strengthen the strong sense of community across the Trust.
Samantha Jones, CEO at The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust said:
“We are so delighted with the success of this Trust-wide initiative, and incredibly humbled by everyone’s generosity, which is a real testament to the amazing community we have here. I know how much everyone enjoyed the day, and it was great to bring everyone together for such an important cause."

Grampound with Creed's 'Good' SIAMS - full press release
Tue 28 Mar 2023SIAMS inspection of Grampound with Creed C of E School finds pupils “happy, engaged and focused”
Grampound with Creed C of E School has been rated ‘Good’ across all areas in its latest SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) report, with inspectors noting that the school is “a happy, nurturing place where children’s confidence is built up and they flourish.”
The inspection, which took place on 16th January, is the first statutory inspection the academy has received since joining The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust, and the report is a testament to the hard work put in by both staff and the Trust to drive rapid improvement.
Inspectors found that since the beginning of the term, leaders have established a strong staff team and rebuilt pupils’ confidence by developing and implementing an inspiring new Christian vision. They noted that this has been “a collaborative process,” involving “the whole school community”. As a result, improvements have taken place at pace, “in a rigorous, yet supportive and compassionate manner.” Other key highlights from the report include:
- Behaviour is good, both in and outside of lessons. Pupils’ confidence has been built by a positive policy based on forgiveness and reconciliation. As a result, “pupils are engaged and focussed” on their learning.
- The curriculum has been refreshed, meaning that pupils “respond confidently” to opportunities for independent learning, discussion and showcasing their work.
- Pupils develop well and flourish. Pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and vulnerable pupils are supported with care. For some of these pupils, there has been a “transformative effect” on their willingness to engage with their learning.
- The quality of learning at the school has rapidly improved so that more pupils can learn effectively.
- Inspired by the Christian vision of the school, pupils are “thoughtful and reflective”. Careful planning ensures that opportunities for personal reflection are varied and enjoyed by pupils, contributing to their spiritual development.
In addition, the report referenced the impact of the “very good support from the Trust and the diocese”, which enables school leaders to implement changes in a supportive and nurturing manner, ensuring pupils and staff feel safe, supported and challenged.
Meanwhile, both the Trust and the diocese have offered mentoring and training to leaders and teachers, developing their knowledge and skills. This has made sure that staff have good support for their wellbeing and mental health.
Everyone at the academy is looking forward to working together to build on the foundations in place, continuing to strengthen the provision on offer and ensure every pupil can thrive.
Rebecca Jane, Acting Head at Grampound with Creed C of E School said:
“This report reflects the tremendous efforts of everyone across our school community, and we are really pleased with the outcome. We are also particularly proud that the report recognises the Christian vision that underpins our work and helps to facilitate a nurturing and compassionate culture.
“We are very grateful to all of our staff, governors, pupils, families, and the wider community, as well as to The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust and the diocese, who have all been instrumental in supporting the sustained improvement of our academy.”
Samantha Jones, CEO of The Rainbow Trust said:
“This result is well-deserved by everyone at Grampound with Creed C of E School, who have all done an exceptional job over the past few months in making huge strides forward. We are confident that there will continue to be a strong upward trajectory in the months and years ahead, and The Rainbow Trust looks forward to supporting the school on its path.”

Gala Night- An Evening of Song and Dance
Thu 02 May 2019Gala Night- An Evening of Song and Dance
On Tuesday 26th March The Rainbow MAT held a gala night to a sold out theatre of parents, staff, friends of the schools and members of the local community at the Regal Cinema in Redruth.
The evening started with a performance from the Trust’s samba band, led by local samba guru Andy Billam. The children played an infectious rhythm that had the audience clapping, tapping and drumming in their seats. From the youngest to the oldest, the children revealed their talent through exceptional rhythm and timekeeping and the proud smiles on their faces mirrored our own.
Each of the schools then performed songs and dances that represented the four elements, Earth, Air, Fireand Water.
St Meriadoc Junior Academy, representing Earth were first on stage, performing One World Together by Matthew Crossey and Tom Kirkham with elegance and harmony. They then proceeded to animate the stage with a beautiful display of feeling and expression to Elton John’s Circle of Life.
Next to take the stage were Troon School, representing Air. The children in their choir, brought a tear to many an eye with their rendition of Let’s go Fly a Kite from the much loved Disney classic Mary Poppins. The children then wowed the audience with a street dance full of confidence and attitude to Lily Allen’sAir Balloon.
St Meriadoc Infant Academy brought Fire to the theatre (and more tears to our eyes) by sweetly singing and acting out the lyrics to Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter, Paul and Mary. They then lit up the stage with an explosive dance to Katy Perry’s Firework, stretching, twirling and smiling as they went.
Lastly were Penponds School, with the element of Water. The children began with Billy Joel’s River of the Night, with a super solo and amazing actions. The children continued to entertain with a playful and energetic dance to their own mix of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, DNCE’s Cake by the Ocean and the latest internet craze- Baby Shark!
At the end of the evening all of the children and some of the staff from The Rainbow schools filled the stage and, led by Kate Card from St Meriadoc Infants, performed True Colours by Cyndi Lauper and How Far I’ll Go by Auli’I Cravalho from Disney’s Moana.
The children performed with confidence and gusto. They were amazing!
A huge thank you to:
Dance teachers: Victoria Fisk, Vox Dance, Natalie Prowse (Lockwood-Urban School of Dance)
Singing teachers: Kirsty Bailey and Kate Card, Cheryl Brendish
Samba teacher: Andy Bilham
